As stated previously, the Big Three all have local versions of their search engines across the world - you can check Google, MSN and Yahoo results for countries from Argentina and Australia to Singapore and Switzerland. Although most people tend to assume that this will cover most of the markets they wish to penetrate, there are in fact a great many local search engines; some of which can be very useful for international sales. With a large part of the globe speaking Spanish and many of the Spanish engines being available in South America that is an obvious target if you wish to sell into that sector. Germany has many specialist search engines and these often have a presence in Austria and Switzerland as well. Smaller countries with their own languages are represented too - for instance Lithuania, the Ukraine, and Finland all have their own local engines. There are also the emerging markets of China which has a major search engine called Baidu, although along with Japan and Hong Kong there are the difficulties of handing the very different alphabets in use there.
The following is a list of some of the more important ones. It is by no means exhaustive as keeping up with the changes internationally is a formidable task.
